Will filing a collision or comprehensive claim make my insurance rates go up?

It depends. A 'collision' claim (for an accident) is more likely to affect your rates, especially if you were at fault. A 'comprehensive' claim (for things like theft, vandalism, or a tree branch falling on your car) typically has less impact on your rates because it's not related to your driving. Factors like your driving history, your policy's 'accident forgiveness' clause, and the severity of the claim all play a role. For an educational estimate, you can use the Premium Increase Calculator in our Claims Hub.
